Cardiac Catheterization Labs

The Cardiac Cath Lab provides a comprehensive array of diagnostic and interventional procedures ranging from angiography and pressure measurements to intravascular thrombolytic therapy, atherectomy, angioplasty, coronary and peripheral stenting, electrophysiology procedures and inpatient cardiac rehabilitation.

We serve a large number of Cardiologists from private practice. Our physicians and staff have the ability and expert training to meet the needs of our patients. All staff members are cross-trained to function in multiple roles within the lab.

Facilities and Equipment

Procedures are performed in two cath labs with computerized digital hemodynamics and charting. Images are stored digitally and can be downloaded to CD for transport or e-mailed via the Internet. A private consultation room, located within the cardiac unit, is included in the image chain, allowing patients’ family members to view images either upon completion of the procedure or when consideration of further therapy becomes necessary. Patients recover in our same day surgery unit conveniently located on the first floor with surgical waiting area near the lab or are admitted as needed, allowing for continuity of specialized care.

Staffing

Staffing includes four personnel per room consisting of registered nurses, radiological technologists and cardiovascular invasive specialists. Their roles include charting, driving, scrubbing and circulating the cases all under the direction of the physician. Additional staff members are added depending on difficulty of case or acuity of patient. All staff is required to maintain appropriate licensure or certifications.

Hours

The Cardiac Cath Lab is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on call for emergency cases. On-call staff can be reached through the page operator at 936-634-8111.

The Cardiac Cath Lab is located on the ground floor near the main elevators.

To schedule a patient, call 936-639-7070. Our staff will make your patients’ reservations and call them the day before the procedure to ensure their needs are considered and their questions answered.

Memorial Health System of East Texas plans to spend $30 million to expand its intensive care unit, emergency room and other facilities.

Lufkin city council members on Tuesday approved the issuance of bonds to help pay for a new four-story facility, which will be dedicated to heart care, at Memorial's Lufkin facility on Frank Avenue. Groundbreaking for the facility should be within the next 18 months.

The new four-story expansion of Memorial Health System of East Texas' Lufkin hospital should mirror the recent expansion at the hospital's Livingston facility. The facility will be constructed in a way to allow for the addition of three stories in the future,

The building will include a new intensive care unit with 24 beds, an expansion of the hospital's emergency room, a new step-down unit with 26 beds, new catheterization labs, and surgery suites dedicated to heart procedure patients.  Read more about it in the Lufkin Daily News.  Watch the video.
