Memorial Ortho/Spine Post Surgical Unit
The Memorial Ortho/Spine Post Surgical Unit opened
December 27, 2006 with 9 beds. Due to significant
changes in Medicare laws and regulations for 2006
concerning hips and knees, Memorial rose to the
occasion to create a unit specific to these types of
diagnoses to achieve maximum quality patient care.
The primary goal of this unit is to provide intense
acute therapy, utilizing the gym area, stairs, ADL
friendly bathrooms/kitchen, and outside surfaces to
help patients return home as independently as
possible. Patients are admitted to this floor
immediately following surgery to begin therapy.
Special features of this unit include:
*Admitting diagnoses
include: total hip, total knee, lumbar laminectomy,
post vertebrioplasty, and total shoulder
replacement.
